Application Audio Capture Quieter Than Desktop Audio

For around a week now, I've noticed that the game I was recording sounded very quiet compared to what it usually sounded like. Just now, I added Desktop Audio into the audio mixer. The only sound on my computer that's playing is from the game, yet Application Audio Capture's volume is quieter. Whenever I view the recording that uses Desktop Audio, it's at the normal volume. Removing then re-adding AAC did not help

Since Desktop Audio is recording the game at the normal volume but Application Audio Capture is quieter, I'd first check the game's Windows volume/output settings and then the AAC source itself.

In Windows, open Volume Mixer while the game is running and make sure the game's volume is at 100% and that it's using the expected output device.

Then in OBS, check Edit → Advanced Audio Properties for the Application Audio Capture source and make sure there isn't a volume adjustment or filter affecting it.

If those look normal, I'd try removing the AAC source and instead using Game Capture → Capture Audio (BETA) if you're capturing the game itself. OBS supports capturing the game's audio directly through Game Capture in newer versions.

I'd also make a short test recording after each change rather than relying only on the mixer meters, since the recording is the thing that's actually coming out quieter.
