If I want to create a recording of a word document, why doesn't the screen recorder capture the drop-down menus, that is used to complete a specific function?

Menus can only be captured with display capture.

Is there any way I can capture the drop-down menus. The reason is I want to create a video where I want to show each step that is required to get the desired results.
