Hello,

I am new to using OBS and have just figured out how to add all my audio/video inputs. I will be recording whilst playing in full-screen mode. I wanted to preview my webcam panel in the corner at the same time as being in full-screen game mode. I done the following:

Settings > Projectors > Make Projectors Always On Top

If I then right click on my video output device (webcam), there is no option to "preview projector". I can right click > open source projector > new window, but I then get a multi-layered recording on an infinite preview loop, and echoed audio.

Is there a different setting I need to adjust first, or something I'm doing wrong?

Thanks in advance.

If you use display capture, OBS will capture what's visible on the display, and if some OBS projector is visible on the display, OBS will capture that. This results in the mirror images.

If you use game capture instead, OBS will just capture the game and nothing else.

You can also activate Settings > General > hide OBS from screen capture.

To see the preview in your projector instead of just one source, right-click the preview area slightly outside the actual preview image to get the preview context menu instead of the source context menu.

Echo in the audio has nothing to do with the "infinity mirror" effect when OBS captures an image of itself. Because OBS never plays back the audio that is captured - the audio goes directly to the file/stream. To hear what OBS is capturing right now - you need to learn a special feature of OBS - "Audio Monitoring".

You likely running two or more Audio sources in OBS, or you are not using headphones - thus the sound is leaking from the desktop speakers to your mic. OBS captures desktop speakers, then OBS captures from mic that "listens" what speakers plays, thus audio doubled in the recording. Headphones and a second display device are must-have for the modern streamer.
