Preview screen in studio mode not working. HELP!!! (windows)

Good day everyone, I have started having an issue with the preview screen on obs using studio mode. It stays as a black screen instead of displaying an image. I have checked to make sure that <Show in multiview> was enabled. I like that feature but it's becoming an issue without it. Does anyone know how to fix or what the issues maybe?

So I have the same issue, but when I move the transition slider it works. But every time I press transition the preview goes black. Why is the preview black it makes no sense.

Preview mode does not show everything, like MP3 file and some video files etc..
If you want those to display in preview mode UNCHECK the close file when inactive option in the source properties...

Same Issue!

"UNCHECK the close file when inactive" I have try but this is not working.

I figured out the issue that caused my preview to be blank. Right click the black area and select resize output. It will say something like the base and output resolutions will be resized etc. Select yes. This will put the preview pane back in place over the black display area. Hopefully this helps someone down the road with this problem.

I have a problem relating to back screen. I have determined that the capture video device is trying to show my laptop screen, secondary tv screen and what is displayed on a third monitor in the window rather than just what is being captured on my camera (using Black Magic design. I can view the red lines but cannot pull the picture back into the viewer. If I click on the video capture device, it highlights red lines shooting in 3 different directions. When I click left or right on my mouse to move the image back, the red lines go away and video capture deselects. Can you advise?

Try to reset the transform on that item (right clik on source name, transform reset...)
That should bring back at least usuable handles around the source in the preview if selected.

Ok. I was having the same problem which i think started after i upgraded to a newer Firestick. I wasn't getting the Preview but the Projector view (Source) was fine. Tried lots of different things off Google, none of which worked. Had to work it out for myself. In the end it was quite simple.....In the. 'Sources', box - where your Firestick should be showing in the blue bar, there is an eye symbol (with a line going through it next to a padlock symbol (mine is open). Click on the eye symbol so that it lights up. Your preview will appear.

TL;DR Delete the files for the Profiles, Sources, and Scenes.

The Devs for some godforsaken reason cant fathom their code is dogshit and causes arbitrary incorrect behaviour.
When you create a profile (one is created by default called "Untitled" on first start up.) it saves a bunch of files (JSON and bak files) for Scene and Source behaviour.
Sometimes (for literally no apparent reason) you wont be able to see sources/scenes you previously had working on the preview window. You can see them working in the Studio Mode "Program: Scene" Window" and the "Properties for [Source]" preview Window, but for whatever reason, that video feed wont display (no matter how many checkboxes and settings the devs tell you to click) in the Main OBS Window Preview.

Im giving a general answer to the issue that SHOULD get your OBS back to how it worked when you first started using it.
Go to C: > Users > [Your User] > Appdata > Roaming > obs-studio
In here you will have several folders.
Go into Basic and delete both profiles and scenes folders.
